Seminar on "On Campus Drug Use in Education Institutions"

The Sociology Department of Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, held a Seminar on “On Campus Drug Use in Education Institutions” on 7th January, 2019 in the University.

The purpose of the Seminar was to highlight a research on drug usage in educational institutions. This research was conducted by Dr. Imran Sabir, Assistant Professor of the University. The study was conducted in educational institutions of four metropolitan cities including Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

The study unveiled that only 2 percent of students have been found involved in drug activities. And, the proportion/figure which is being told is not true.

Mr. Sabino Sikandar Jalal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Narcotics Control, participated in the event as Guest Speaker. He highlighted the Ministry of Narcotics Control’s efforts towards Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) activities.

The Seminar was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Brig. Mubashir Hassan Kazmi, Director Enforcement, Anti Narcotics Force, Mr. Aamir Ghauri, Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. Mr. Shehryar Afridi, Minister of State for Interior was Chief Guest of the occasion.
